DESIGN ASSISTANT

INTRODUCTION

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Design Assistant to join the Design team, working across Women & Children wear contributing to the smooth and timely delivering of our quality apparel products to the market. Reporting to the Senior Designer of RB Sellars, you will provide efficient administrative support and engage with future focused trend research & development, supporting the design process, initiatives and projects.

The Opportunity:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Design Assistant to join the Design team, working across Women & Children wear contributing to the smooth and timely delivering of our quality apparel products to the market.

Reporting to the Senior Designer of RB Sellars, you will provide efficient administrative support and engage with future focused trend research & development, supporting the design process, initiatives and projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of garment samples for Meetings, Showings and Photographic shoots.
  • Collate & organize well designed visual process to provide accurate information to the broader team and suppliers as required.
  • Implement changes on all documentation within the creative space constantly as stories take shape within the collection.
  • Maintain up-to-date seasonal product reference reports for business-wide usage.
  • Possess a clear understanding of the garment design development process.
  • Lease with suppliers, to communicate approvals and follow up on samples.
  • Contribute to and assist with building Seasonal presentations/ story boards and other packs – using forecast & trend reports; web & market analysis; fashion/ market publications.
  • Collaborate and develop strong relationships with cross functional teams to prepare quality presentations and sales tools for range showings.

About You:

  • Experience as a Design Assistant/Design Intern
  • Tertiary qualifications Fashion, Textile or Product Devt//Fashion Design is desirable
  • Demonstrated passion for apparel, in Menswear, Women’s and/or Children wear
  • Agility, professional flexibility to pivot across multiple tasks at any one time efficiently, updating information thoroughly and accurately
  • Computer literacy Excel, Word, and Adobe Suite – Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign (or equivalent creative program)
  • Superior technical skills, knowledge of product design and construction
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
  • A love of the country, an understanding of our customer and an alignment to our core values
