Description
Title: Assistant Professor (Anatomy, Biochemistry and Physiology)

Location: John A. Burns School of Medicine, Kaka’ako
Salary Information: Commensurate with education and experience.
Tenure Track: Tenure track
Full Time/Part Time: Full Time, 100% FTE
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach graduate, undergraduate and/or medical students according to department needs and priorities.
- Pursue, conduct and collaborate on research with a focus on cardiovascular disease.
- Serve as a mentor or academic advisor to students and/or serve on advanced degree committees.
- Serve as a tutor in Problem Based Learning (PBL) tutorial(s).
- Serve as a mentor in research electives for medical students.
- Participate in department, school, and/or University committees.
- Other scholarly duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications:
- Ph.D. in a biological science or relevant field from an accredited college or university.
- Demonstrated experience in cardiovascular research.
- Demonstrated scholarly achievement.
- Demonstrated ability as a teacher.
- Poise and good address for meeting and conferring with others.
- Demonstrated ability to obtain external funding.
- Current external federal funding support, transferable to JABSOM.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain at least half of base salary with external federal salary support within three (3) years of hire.
Desirable qualifications:
- First and senior author papers in high quality journals.
- Current federal funding support with an NIH R01 or K-award grant or the equivalent level of extramural grants, transferable to JABSOM.
- Extensive experience in cardiovascular physiology, biochemistry or anatomy.
- Demonstrated independence and career initiative
